The main villages are:<\/p>\n\n

Grundarfjordur<\/strong>On the north coast, a fantastic location in the fjords with a perfect view of Kirkjufell, just a few minutes away by car. The widest choice of accommodation.See our top-rated accommodations<\/a> or our section below.<\/p>\n\n

Borgarnes<\/strong>Not on the peninsula, but at the junction with Route 1.If you’re on a road trip and only have a day on the peninsula, it may be convenient to stay here. Arnarstapi \/ Hellnar<\/strong>Small villages on the south coast.They are located along lava cliffs, with beautiful formations such as the Gatklettur Arch. What’s more, they offer magnificent mountain views.See our top-rated accommodations<\/a> or our section below.<\/p>\n\n

And in Budir, next to the Black Church, you’ll also find a popular hotel.<\/p>\n\n

There’s no real advantage to exploring one place over another.But if you’re looking to see the northern lights, sunsets and sunrises in a spectacular location, Grundarfjordur is just a 5-minute drive from Kirkjufell.<\/p>\n\n
